Cookie Policy

Last updated: 12 October 2026 · Operated by CyberNovr Limited

This Cookie Policy explains how NovrAcademy (“we”, “us”) uses cookies and similar technologies to recognise you when you visit novracademy.com and the learning platform. It explains what these technologies are, why we use them, and your rights to control them. For what we do with personal data more broadly, see our Privacy Policy.

What are cookies?

Cookies are small data files placed on your computer or mobile device when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work, or to work more efficiently, as well as to provide reporting information. Cookies set by the website owner (us) are “first-party cookies”; cookies set by other parties are “third-party cookies”. Similar technologies include localStorage, which stores data in your browser without sending it to our servers.

Why do we use cookies?

NovrAcademy uses a small set of strictly necessary cookies and browser storage only — they are required for core features such as signing in, keeping your session secure, and remembering quiz progress. Because they are essential, we do not operate a consent banner: without them the platform cannot function, and we do not use advertising, social-media or analytics cookies on NovrAcademy.

Cookies we set

NamePurposeDuration
__Secure-next-auth.session-token(next-auth.session-token on http dev)Keeps you signed in. HttpOnly (not readable by scripts), SameSite=Lax, Secure on HTTPS.Session / up to 30 days, ends earlier after 30 min of inactivity
__Host-next-auth.csrf-token(next-auth.csrf-token on http dev)Cross-site request forgery protection for sign-in.Session
next-auth.callback-urlRemembers the page you were heading to so sign-in can return you there.Session

Browser storage (not cookies)

We also store a few values in your browser’s localStorage:

  • novr-quiz-draft:… — saves your in-progress quiz answers and layout so a refresh or reconnect doesn’t lose your work.
  • trial-banner-dismissed(-at) — remembers that you dismissed the trial banner.
  • theme — remembers your light/dark mode choice.

Clearing your browser data removes these values; nothing essential is lost (a quiz draft simply starts fresh).

Third-party technologies

  • Paystack (js.paystack.co) — the inline payment script loads only when a payment page is opened. Paystack may set its own cookies during checkout; they are governed by Paystack’s cookie policy.
  • Google Fonts — fonts are served from Google’s CDN; your browser contacts Google when pages load.
  • Cloudflare Stream & Mux — course videos are delivered from these CDNs; playback may involve their standard technical logs.

We run no advertising, social-media or analytics pixels on NovrAcademy, so there are no marketing cookies to reject.

How can you control cookies?

You can set or amend your web browser controls to accept or refuse cookies. Because our cookies are strictly necessary, refusing them will prevent signing in and other core features from working. Most browsers let you delete existing cookies and block future ones — see your browser’s help menu for details. You can also clear the localStorage values listed above at any time.

Session inactivity timeout

For your protection, a signed-in session ends after 30 minutes of inactivity (interacting with the platform, or keeping a lesson open in a visible tab, keeps it alive). When that happens you are signed out and returned to the sign-in page.

Will this policy change?

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the cookies we use or for operational, legal or regulatory reasons. Revisit this page regularly to stay informed; the date at the top shows when it was last updated.
